Anechoic chamber

The anechoic chamber is designed to absorb reflections of sound waves from all directions. There are sound absorbing tiles on the walls, ceiling and under the floor which is only a mesh grille construction. In the room there is a high quality microphone.

With this setup it is possible to make very clean audio recordings without any disturbing echoes or noises. This is very useful for collecting data for acoustic analyses, in e.g. phonetic studies, physics of sound waves and musicology.
