Motion capture

Overview

The Motion Capture system at the Humanities Lab enables precise tracking of movement in three dimensions. It uses infrared cameras and reflective markers to capture motion in real time, making it ideal for studies in gesture, communication, and embodied cognition.

Applications

Motion Capture is used in research on multimodal communication, sign language, dance, and interaction design. It allows detailed analysis of body posture, movement patterns, and coordination. But is not limited to body movement, any kind of motion can be recorded.

Technical Details

- 28-camera Qualisys system with sub-millimeter accuracy.
- Real-time tracking of multiple participants.
- Compatible with other systems (e.g., audio, video, eyetracking).
- Data export in various formats for analysis.

Access & Support

Training is required before using the system. Researchers can book the lab and consult with lab expertise.
