Humanities Lab

The Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology | Lund University

MRI

Humanities Lab has no MRI facilities of its own, but can help current users who wish to combine work at the Lab with imaging at Lund University Bioimaging Center (LBIC). LBIC hosts state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facilities to study brain anatomy and brain function. The equipment consists of clinical MRI scanners as well the Swedish national 7T facility. 7T MRI is especially powerful in the context of Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) which in particular has become an important tool for Cognitive science, Linguistics, Psychology, and other disciplines to study human functioning and learning. The tighter link between the Humanities Lab and LBIC is a crucial move to further facilitate training and access to additional tools, especially in light of the emphasis on so-called Medical Humanities at LU, involving the Medical Faculty and the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology.
