The course is intended for PhD students and masters students within the humanities who work with quantitative data. The course is given during the fall term of the academic year. Topics of this course include principles of experimental design, variable types, data exploration, and data visualisation. We will use the program R, which is freely available software. By the end of the course, the participants are expected to carry out an experiment, analyse the data, and present the results. During the spring term of the next year, there will be a follow-up course in which principles of data analysis and participants' own data play a central part.
